Günümüzde dünya ticaretinin %80’inden fazlası deniz yolu ile yapılmaktadır. Bunun temel nedeni, lojistik maliyetlerin düşük olması ve nakliye sürecinde bürokratik engellerin fazla olmamasıdır. Lakin deniz yoluyla taşımacılık faaliyetleri, çevre kirliliğine neden olması ve denizlerde meydana gelen kazalar sebebi ile ciddi bir eleştiri almaktadır. Dünya ticaretinde kanallar ve boğazlar gibi önemli geçiş yolları bu anlamda daha fazla risk içermektedir. İstanbul Boğazı ’da geçiş yoğunluğu nedeni ile deniz kirliliği ve kaza riski gibi sorunlar ile karşı karşıya kalan geçiş güzergâhlarındandır. Kanal İstanbul projesinin gerçekleşmesi ile İstanbul Boğazı’nın mevcut sorunlarının büyük oranda hafiflemesi beklenmektedir. Konu ile ilgili araştırma yapılırken literatür tarama metodu uygulanmış olup, mevcut veriler ışığında değerlendirme yapılmıştır.
Today, more than 80% of world trade is made by sea. The main reason for this is that the logistics costs are low and there are no excessive bureaucratic obstacles in the shipping process. However, the transportation activities by sea are seriously criticized because they cause environmental pollution and the cause of accidents occurring in the seas. In the world trade, important transit routes such as channels and throats involve more risks in this sense. In Istanbul's Gulf, the passing intensity is one of the passing routes that are faced with problems such as sea pollution and accident risk. With the realization of the Channel Istanbul project, the existing problems of the Istanbul Boğazı are expected to be greatly relieved. During the research on the subject, the literary scan method has been applied and evaluation has been made in light of the current data.
