Introduction and Purpose: There are studies in the literature that report that flavanols and catechins contained in the tea plant help to protect or reduce from oral diseases such as tooth fractures, tooth inflammation, periodontitis, mouth odor and mouth malignity. The aim of this study is to investigate the frequency of tea consumption in the province of Rize, where the tea production is the largest in Turkey, and the effects of the tea drinking habit in adults on oral health. Method and Requirements: Individuals aged 18-62 participated in the study. The plate index was calculated according to the criteria used by Silness and Löe. To evaluate the effect of crash risk factors, a survey was carried out to each patient with questions about general health, oral care habits, the frequency of going to the dentist and the diet. In the clinical and radiological examination, the number of dirty (D), dirty (M) and filled (F) teeth collected was achieved with individual DMFT values. The statistical value of significance was determined as p <0,05. About 32% of the 220 participants were young adults (15-24 years old), 52% middle-age adults (25-44 years old) and 16% older adults (45-64 years old). The study found that 69.1% of individuals (n=152) were female and 30.9% (n=68) men. In the group that never drank tea, the body mass index was statistically significantly higher. It was statistically found that people with low coffee drinking habits have a low frequency of black tea consumption. It was found that black tea consumption has a significantly positive relationship with body mass index and smoking, a significantly negative relationship with plaque index and DMFT. The study found that black tea consumption has a previous corrupt experience, plaque index, body mass index, and the relationship with smoking, and that black tea contains antioxidant and antibacterial compounds that can have a protective effect on oral and dental health.
