Abstract:

It is known that abuse is increasing day by day in the world and in our country. There are 13 different types of abuse and each of them has different effects on individuals. The effect of occupational therapy interventions on the activity/role competence of individuals is quite high. Occupational therapists help individuals to increase their self-esteem and self-efficacy, to develop coping strategies, to increase activities of daily living and occupational performance. Occupational therapists also help individuals overcome bad experiences. In this study, it was aimed to talk about occupational therapy approaches used in abused individuals, to eliminate the lack of information in the literature, to create a multidisciplinary team with other professional groups and to show that it serves a common purpose with social services in this field and to guide occupational therapists in approaching abused individuals. A limited number of studies have been conducted in the literature on occupational therapy and abuse. Almost all of the studies reflect the positive effects of occupational therapy approaches on abused individuals. This gives hope to future studies in this field. Considering all these, it is a scientific need to add more evidence-based practice approaches to the literature with more studies.
