Abstract:

The verbal history is a method of research that has evolved and spread in recent periods. In fact, it is the product of an alternative search that appears as a response to the scripture of the written date. The use of verbal history is reached by researchers to modern times. But the use of verbal history extends to much older times. Many writers from the Ancient to the Middle Ages have benefited from verbal history. And some of them have developed a particular method for them. But yet the beginning of verbal history is mentioned by modernism that develops a more systematic method. In Turkey, the modern methodology and the verbal approach to history meet early periods. However, this situation is often neglected. In this, especially in Turkey, the verbal history writing plays an important role in not sitting in a tradition. In addition, the verbal history is also effective in this case that it is not conceptualized. Despite all, Faruk Sümer, who performs important verbal history works in Turkey, is the subject of the writing.
