Bu çalışmanın amacı ilköğretim düzeyinde Türkiye'de gerçekleştirilmiş olan bilimsel süreç becerileri(BSB) ile ilgili araştırmalardaki eğilimleri belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda 2017-2021 yılları arasında yayımlanmış 19 tez, 22 makale olmak üzere toplam 41 çalışma incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmalar; yayın türü, yayın yılı, çalışmanın amacı, örneklem türü, örneklem büyüklüğü, araştırma yöntemi, veri toplama araçları, veri analiz yöntemleri, deneysel çalışmalarda müdahale süresi ve çalışmada kullanılan BSB testinin özelliklerine göre incelenmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak Çiltaş ve diğerleri (2012) tarafından geliştirilen yayın sınıflandırma formu, araştırmanın amaçları doğrultusunda bazı değişiklikler yapılarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, 2019 yılında BSB ile ilgili çalışma sayısının en fazla olduğunu, çalışmalarda çoğunlukla nicel araştırma desenlerinden yarı deneysel desenin tercih edildiğini, çalışmalarda daha çok belirli öğretim yaklaşım/yöntemlerinin BSB üzerindeki etkilerinin araştırıldığını göstermiştir. Deneysel çalışmalarda çalışma ünitesi olarak Madde ve değişim ünitesi tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmalar çoğunlukla 4. sınıf öğrencileri ile yürütülmüş ve örneklem büyüklükleri 31-100 aralığındadır. BSB testleri çoğunlukla 21 ve üzeri çoktan seçmeli maddelerden oluşmakta olup, testleri geliştirenlerin çoğunlukla yabancı araştırmacılar olduğu, deneysel çalışmaların müdahale süresinin çoğunlukla 4-6 hafta sürdüğü görülmüştür.
The aim of this study is to determine the trends in research related to the scientific process skills (BSB) that have been carried out in Turkey at the primary education level. In this context, a total of 41 studies, including 19 theses published between 2017-2021, 22 articles, were studied. These studies have been studied according to the type of publication, the year of publication, the purpose of the study, the type of sampling, the size of sampling, the research method, the data collection tools, the data analysis methods, the time of intervention in experimental studies and the characteristics of the BSB test used in the study. The publication classification form developed by Chiltaş and others as a data collection tool (2012) has been used by making some changes in accordance with the purpose of the research. Research results showed that the number of studies related to BSB was the highest in 2019, the studies preferred semi-experimental patterns mostly from quantitative research patterns, and the studies more researched the effects of specific teaching approaches/methodes on BSB. In experimental studies, the subject and exchange unit were preferred as a work unit. The studies are mostly conducted with 4th-class students and the sampling sizes are in the range of 31-100. BSB tests are mostly made up of 21 or more already selected substances, and it has been found that those who develop the tests are mostly foreign researchers, and the intervention period of experimental studies usually lasts 4-6 weeks.
The purpose of this study is to determine the trends in research studies related to Science Process Skills (SPS) conducted in Turkey in the field of primary science education. In this context, a total of 41 studies, including 22 articles and 19 theses published between 2017-2021 were examined. These studies were examined based on: type of publication, publication year, purpose of the study, sample type, sample size, teaching unit of science, research method of the study, data collection tools, data analysis methods, characteristics of SPS test used in the study, and intervention period in experimental studies. The publication classification form developed by Çı̇ltaş et al., (2012) was used as a data collection tool with certain modifications in accordance with the aims of the research. Results of the study showed that the number of the studies was highest in 2019, quantitative research methods and quasi-experimental research design were more preferred in the studies. The effects of certain teaching methods on SPS were studied most frequently. Matter and Change teaching unit was mostly chosen in experimental studies by the researchers. The studies were generally carried out with 4th grade students and sample sizes were in the range of 31-100. SPS tests were mostly consisted of multiple choice items with 21 or more items. Developers of the SPS tests were mostly researchers from overseas, intervention period for experimental studies were mostly 4-6 weeks.
