Abstract:

Objective: The study was pl.anned in order ta evaluate family support perceived by adolescent and ta determine effects of several socio-demographic factors on perceived family support. Material Method: This is a descriptive study conducted by 7th and 8th grade students atending Batıçim Elemantary School n=300 . Study data was collected by survey method using "Survey Form far Interaction of Adolescent and Parent" and "Perceived Family Support Scale". Results: Mean age of adolescents is 13.63± 1.1O years. Most of the sample %75.3 live within nuclear family. Whereas 58.4 percent of adolescents scored their relation with their family as "very good", 83.6 percent determined that they are "very satisfied" by their relation. Mean score of "Perceived Family Support Scale" is 10. 75 ±3.89 . Mean score determinedfor the scale is higher than the mean value within the range expected from the scale. Mean score associated with perceived family support is related by the two socio­ demographic variable, namely sex and income level, and it does not differ in terms of family type.
