Abstract:

Purpose: The cervical spine that provides the connection between the head and the body has an important anatomical position that contains a lot of cranio-phasial structures. This study aims to identify the morphometric characteristics of the second cervical vertebrate (C-2) in adults and identify gender-related differences. Materials and Methods: Chukurova University Radiology and lateral craniophasial radiography was taken in a total of 89 patients (40 women, 49 men) of 22 years of age and older were performed retrospective. The average age of individuals involved in the study was 47.85 (48.15 in women, 47.61 in men). Results: The study found that the size and weight measurements of the men involved were higher than the weight measurements of the women (p<0,05). When we look at the measurement parameters, the total height (TY), the upper dens depth (UDD), the lower dens depth (ADD), the front vertebra body height (EVGY), the back vertebra body height (AVGY) and the horizontal front-back length (HÖAU) were statistically higher in men than in women (p<0,05). The result: the morphometric characteristics of the C-2 vertebrate and differences in women and men have been revealed. Having these results in mind, we believe that it can help clinics in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, in surgical operations.
