İlk TBMM’de Edirne Milletvekilleri ve Faaliyetleri (1920-1923)

Edirne Osmanlı Devleti’ne uzunca bir süre başkentlik yapmış olması hasebiyle ve Osmanlı Devleti’nin Avrupa’ya açılan kapısı olması hasebiyle stratejik ve kültürel öneme sahip bir yerdir. Ayrıca Edirne Yunanlılarla yapılan Millî Mücadele’de Anadolu’nun yanında yer almış ve Millî Mücadele’nin destekçisi olmuş bir yerdir. 16 Mart 1920 tarihinde İstanbul’un İtilaf Devletleri tarafından işgal edilmesi sonrasında Mustafa Kemal Paşa tarafından bir bildiri yayınlanarak Ankara’da “Selâhiyet-i Fevkalâde-i Haiz Meclis (Olağanüstü yetkilere sahip meclis)” açılması kararı alınmıştır. Bu karar üzerine vekiller 19 Mart tarihinden itibaren Ankara’ya gelmeye başlamışlardır. Meclis 23 Nisan 1920 tarihinde Cuma günü en yaşlı üye olan Şerif Bey’in açılış konuşması ile açılmıştır. Anadolu’da açılan olağanüstü yetkilere sahip bu Meclis’e askeri ve siyasi anlamda önemli katkılarda bulunan Mehmet Şeref Bey, Mehmet Faik Bey, İsmet Paşa, Kâzım Karabekir Paşa ve Cafer Tayyar Paşa Edirne’den milletvekili olarak dahil olmuşlardır. Bu makalede Millî Mücadele’nin askerî ve siyasî safhalarında yer almış olan Edirne milletvekillerinin özgeçmişleri kısaca tanıtılarak, ilk TBMM içerisindeki faaliyetlerinin neler oldukları sayısal olarak belirtilmiş ve örnekler verilerek açıklanmıştır.

Edirne is a place of strategic and cultural importance because it has long been the capital of the Ottoman State and because it is the door of the Ottoman State to Europe. In addition, Edirne was a place in the National Struggle with the Greeks at the side of Anadolu and was the supporter of the National Struggle. On March 16, 1920, after the occupation of Istanbul by the Opposition States, a statement was published by Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the decision was made to open the "Selâhiyet-i Fevkalâde-i Haiz Assembly" in Ankara. On this decision, the lawyers have begun to come to Ankara from March 19. The parliament was opened on Friday, April 23, 1920 with the opening speech of Sheriff Mr, the oldest member. With the extraordinary powers opened in Anadolu, this parliament has been included as members of Mehmet Sheref Mr, Mehmet Faik Mr, Ismet Paşa, Kâzım Karabekir Paşa and Cafer Tayyar Paşa Edirne, who have made important contributions in the military and political sense. In this article, the resume of the Edirne parliamentarians who were involved in the military and political stages of the National Struggle was briefly presented, the number of activities in the first TBMM were indicated and the examples were given.

Edirne is a place of strategic and cultural importance due to the fact that it had been the capital of the Ottoman State for a long time and it was the door of the Ottoman State opening to Europe. In addition, Edirne is a place that was next to Anatolia in the National Struggle with the Greeks and became a supporter of the National Struggle. After the occupation of Istanbul by the Allied Powers on March 16, 1920, a declaration was issued by Mustafa Kemal Pasha and it was decided to open a “Assembly of Excellency” (Assembly with extraordinary powers) in Ankara. Upon this decision, the deputies started to come to Ankara as of March 19th. The assembly was opened on Friday, 23 April 1920 with the opening speech of the oldest member, Şerif Bey. Mehmet Şeref Bey, Mehmet Faik Bey, İsmet Pasha, Kâzım Karabekir Pasha and Cafer Tayyar Pasha, who made important contributions to this Assembly, which had extraordinary powers opened in Anatolia, were involved as deputies from Edirne. In this article, the CVs of Edirne deputies who took part in the military and political phases of the National Struggle are briefly introduced, and their activities in the First Assembly are numerically stated and explained by giving examples.
