This article claims that Nietzsche’s last man and the civilized people of the Brave New World have similar feelings of happiness and that the situation they call happiness is not real happiness. This claim is based on Nietzsche’s ethical theory in the framework of happiness, power demand, freedom and supreme-human concepts. According to the last man, happiness is equal to hedonism, and pleasure is greater than moral values. In other words, the purpose of the last man’s life is to obtain pleasure and happiness from the objects of desire. Therefore, the last man is the type of many people who are lacking the Supreme-human ideal. Everyone in the last people’s community is the same and wants the same thing. Nietzsche finds the ultimate man’s sense of happiness undermined, because it says it is a condition that comes with an increase in power by vaccineing an obstacle, not a feeling achieved by happiness, pleasure and fun. We see the examples of the human type that Nietzsche calls the ‘last man’ in Aldous Huxley’s ‘The Brave New World’. The foundation of the sense of happiness of the civilized people of the Brave New World, like the last man, is hedonism. In this new system, it is also considered equal to happiness, pleasure and fun. But true happiness is a situation achieved by achieving a mental ideal. In Nietzsche’s philosophy, this ideal is the Supreme-Man. According to the Supreme-Man, happiness is, as in the last man, not just the pleasure that is obtained by the provision of material needs, but the condition that is obtained by the achievement of power and the increase of power.
