Abstract:

As the place of worship of the Islamic religion, the mosques are one of the important elements of cultural life. The place of the mosque is the place where people physically gather and gather together, primarily worship, and other social needs are addressed, as well as where cultural and artistic events are met with the public. The mosque, the first place of worship of the Islamic religion; the time in which it was built, is in a very simple structure, taking into account economic and cultural conditions. On the contrary, in the periods in which Islam was increasingly spread and mixed with different cultures in different geographics, the mosques became structures that were shaped according to the art and aesthetic pleasure of that culture, more spectacular, more artistically decorated, more architecturally equipped, and providing diversity in socio-cultural aspects. Thro history, the mosques, in accordance with the aesthetic understanding of the Islamic religion, have appealed to the spirit and the eyes with the decorations of the pencil applied to their cubes and wooden elements, according to the aesthetic understanding of the Islamic religion. In this study, we will study the writing and decoration characteristics of the Chain Camii built in 1879 located in the National District of Ankara.
