Abstract:

The use of complementary therapies to improve health and quality of life is widespread both in the general population and among cancer patients. Complementary therapies provide relief in cancer patients by both alleviating the symptoms and eliminating the side effects resulting from the treatments. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women and women with breast cancer are negatively affected physically, socially and psychologically. Women with breast cancer often use complementary methods in addition to routine treatment. It is stated that aromatherapy, which is one of the complementary application methods, is effective in symptom management on breast cancer patients. It is important to include aromatherapy practices in the nursing profession, where aromatherapy practices have been used in patient care since the past, because they are suitable for holistic care goals and professional ethics. The aim of this article is to evaluate the effect of aromatherapy on women with breast cancer.
