Abstract:

The subject of the research is the relationship between the quality of life and religiosity in of the elderly (60+) within the context of demographic factors. Therefore, prominent scientific publications in the literature were examined, and the scales that were proven in terms of validity and reliability were evaluated. In the research, "convenience sampling" method was preferred to determine the study group. With this method, 220 elderly individuals living in Şanlıurfa were contacted and their voluntary participation in the research was ensured. In the study, which was conducted as a field research, the "Religious Life Scale" was used for measures related to religiosity and the "WHOQOL-OLD Scale" was used for the measurement of the quality of life. In addition, five questions determining the demographic characteristics of the study group were added to these two scales. After its preparation, the questionnaire was handed over to the participants in person. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, socio-demographic variables differ according to both quality of life and level of religiosity. The results of the research suggest that women had higher religiosity scores than men, while men had higher quality of life scores. The results of the research are presented by comparing the results of national and international scientific studies that were conducted both before and after 2014, when the data used herein was collected.
