Abstract:

Skills-based learning is one of the learning approaches MEB has adopted in program updates since 2017. It can be said that skill-focused learning, which aims to measure students’ ability to use and transfer knowledge in the fields of mathematics, reading skills, science and collaborative problem solving, is a natural result of PISA exam results. When assessed in terms of the acquisition of ethical skills, it can be argued that skill-centered learning in ethical education will be more functional. From here, the study with action aims to make the theoretical foundation of the skill-based learning approach and discuss its applicability in the moral education. In this framework, what the concept of competence means and the development process has been revealed, the availability of the competence-based understanding in the moral education has been discussed. This study, designed with the review of documents, is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the skill-based learning approach.
