Abstract:

In this study, which was launched to explore adventure tourists who participated in high-risk activities in Turkey, the most popular adventure activities in Turkey, the landscape parasut, tube immersion, surfing, rafting, canoe, camp, ski/snowboard, rock climbing, trekking and tour bicycle activities involved adventure tourists were studied. The study aimed at creating an adventure tourist type by evaluating the demographic characteristics, recreational behaviors, personality characteristics and activities they prefer. For this purpose, the extravagant personality scale developed to reveal the characteristics of tourist personality has been used. With this scale, an survey question form has been created, which also includes explanations on the recreational behaviors of adventure tourists and their demographic characteristics. In the framework of the research, the data was collected using the survey technique from quantum research methods. Adventure tourists who participated in the 10 designated adventure activities were selected using the easy sampling method and a total of 1246 data were obtained from these tourists. The research results revealed the personality types of adventure tourists and determined the personality types, recreational behaviors and demographic characteristics according to the activities that adventure tourists prefer.
