Abstract The article presents a discussion on the documentary on the situation of refuge in childhood for children. The objective is to emphasize a debate on the critical production of audiovisual records and its interference in education, within the scenario of children's invisibility and forced displacement. Two authors representing Cultural Studies, Raymond Williams and Fredric Jameson, were elected for the theoretical debate. As an empirical analysis, the German documentary "Child Refugee Tiba" (Flüchtlingskind Tiba, 2015-2017) was listed, which aims to problematize the ways in which the critical production of educational media content enables visibility, understanding and awareness about the phenomenon of refuge. In this way, a reflection on the impact and repercussion of this documentary on the children and youth audience is approached. The discussion results in a debate, with the purpose of encouraging ways to build a culture in common.
