Одним из наиболее устойчивых и доступных визуальных языков в народном творчестве ногайцев является орнамент. Наравне с мифами и легендами этноса он повествует нам о том периоде прошлого, когда ногайцы верили в магическую силу изображений, нанесенных на одежду, предметы быта, жилище, защищавших их от злонамеренных сил. Выстраиваясь в определенные композиции, орнаментальные знаки становились своего рода текстом, прочитать который мог каждый представитель этноса. Сегодня, благодаря сохранившимся предметам материальной культуры ногайцев, преемственности поколений, проведенным исследованиям, представляется возможным узнать значение ногайского орнамента и изучить его язык.
One of the most stable and accessible visual languages in the Nogai folk art is ornament. Along with the myths and legends of the ethnos, he tells us about that period of the past when the Nogais believed in the magical power of images printed on clothes, household items, and dwellings, which protected them from malicious forces. Lining up in certain compositions, these signs became a kind of text, which every representative of the ethnic group could read. Today, thanks to the preserved objects of the material culture of the Nogais, the succession of generations, and studies, it seems possible to find out the meaning of the Nogai ornament and learn its language.
