A CONTENT ANALYSIS OF ARTICLES IN THE LISTENING SKILL AREA BETWEEN 2008 AND 2020

Abstract:

This study aimed to evaluate articles written in the listening/monitoring skill area between 2008 and 2020. To this end, articles were reviewed using the keywords "listening, listening skill, and listening education" in the journals indexed in the ULAKBİM database. Ninety-one articles obtained as a result of the review were classified using the "Article Classification Form for the Listening Skill" according to their tags, methods, keywords, article types, samples, sample numbers, data analysis methods, data collection tools, and indexes. The "document scanning" model, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used to collect the study data. The data of the study in which content analysis was used were analyzed using frequency and percentage on SPSS 17.0 software. According to the study results, it was concluded that the most articles were published in 2019 (17.6%), most of the articles were written by one author (48.5%), the responsible authors of the articles mostly worked at Atatürk University (8.8%) and the MEB (8.8%), the qualitative research method (58.2%) was used, the theme "listening skill" (41%) came to the fore among the themes related to the keywords, original articles (65.9%) were written the most in terms of the article type, printed materials (34.1%) were used the most as the sample, 31-100 (19.8%) samples were preferred in terms of the sample number, descriptive analysis (23.1%) and content analysis (23.1%) came to the fore among data analysis methods, documents (33%) were mostly used among data collection tools, and the articles were mostly indexed by the TR Index (49.5%).
