The goal of this study is to examine and define the relationships between the locus of control of nurses, coping strategies of stress and display of mental symptom situtations. The nurses who work at Muğla State Hospital N=299 and Sigorta Hospital N=70 participated in this study. However, total 349 nurses participated due to the offical permission and medical leaves. Rotter’s Internal-External Locus of Control Scale, Rosenbaum’s Learned Resourcefulness Schedule and Symptom Check List-90-R were used in order to determine the locus of control of nurses, coping strategies and display of mental symptom situations, respectively. In order to analyse the data collected, the percentage, correlation Pearson r , and Kruskal Wallis test were applied The results suggest that the external locus of control of nurses is high while level of gained power is normal. However, the display of mental sympton situtations is at slighly high level. Morever, when the relationship among the three scales were examined, it was found that there is a negative relationship between Rotter’s Internal- External Locus of Control Scale and Rosenbaum’s Learned Resourfulness Schedule, whereas there is a meaningful relationship between “Rotter’s İnternal-External Locus of Control Scale and Symptom Check List SCL-90-R. Also, the negative relationship between Rosenbaum’s Learned Resourcefulness Schedule and Symptom Check List-90-R was found. Furthermore, it was determined that there is meaningful relationship among the Rotter’s Internal-Extarnal Locus of Control Scale and clinic. The nurses participating in the study were found to be mainly with external locus of control, normal learned difficulty and high level of displaying psychological symptoms
