Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is the term which defines ischemic conditions developed as a result of coronary plaque rupture. ACS without ST elevation is divided into 2 groups as, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and unstable angina (UA). In NSTEMI, damage has been demonstrated by elevated markers of myocardial injury. Atherosclerotic disease is usually the cause of NSTEMI and UA that share a common pathophysiology and can not be distinguished from each other during the first presentation. Risk stratification and treatment approach are the same and the presence or absence of these syndromes is distinguished by only the increase in cardiac biomarkers. In this review, we will discuss the risk classification and timing of invazive treatment modalities in patients with NSTEMI
