Bu çalışma, müzik öğretmeni adaylarının sınav kaygısı düzeylerine ve sınav kaygısının piyano eğitimi sürecindeki rolüne odaklanmaktadır. Müzik öğretmeni adaylarının sınav kaygısı düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve sınav kaygısı düzeylerinin cinsiyet, öğrenim görülen sınıf, mezun olunan lise türü, günlük piyano çalışma süresi, piyano eğitimine başlama yaşı ve piyano akademik başarı notu değişkenleri açısından farklılığının ortaya koyulması çalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın örneklem grubunu Türkiye’deki yedi üniversitenin Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Müzik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında öğrenim gören toplam 718 müzik öğretmeni adayı oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri kişisel bilgi formu ve Sınav Kaygısı Envanteri ile elde edilmiş, veriler ilişkisiz grup t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve Scheffe testi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları müzik öğretmeni adaylarının sınav kaygılarının orta düzeyde olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, kadınların sınav kaygıları, erkeklerin sınav kaygılarından anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur. Müzik öğretmeni adaylarının sınav kaygısı düzeyleri; öğrenim gördükleri sınıf, mezun oldukları lise türü ve piyano eğitimine başlama yaşına göre anlamlı bir fark yaratmamış, günlük piyano çalışma süresine göre günde 2 saatten fazla piyano çalışan müzik öğretmeni adaylarının ve piyano akademik başarı notuna göre başarı notu AA-BA olan müzik öğretmeni adaylarının lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark yaratmıştır.
This study focuses on the exam anxiety levels of music teacher candidates and the role of exam anxiety in the piano training process. The purpose of the study is to determine the exam worries levels of the musician candidates and to reveal the differences between the exam worries levels in terms of gender, class that is studied, type of high school graduated, daily piano study time, the age of starting piano training and the variables in the piano academic success score. The sample group of the study was formed by a total of 718 music teachers candidates who studied in the music education department of the Education Faculty of Seven Universities in Turkey. The data of the study was obtained through the personal information form and the Test Anxiety Reserve, and the data was analyzed through the unrelated group t-test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and Scheffe test. Research results have shown that the exam concerns of musician teachers are at a medium level. Moreover, women’s exam concerns have been found significantly higher than men’s exam concerns. The exam worries levels of the music teacher candidates; the class they study, the type of high school they graduate, and the age of starting the piano training did not make a significant difference, the daily piano study time made a statistically significant difference in the benefit of the music teacher candidates who worked more than 2 hours a day and the music teacher candidates who were AA-BA success score according to the piano academic success score.
This study focuses on exam anxiety levels of teacher candidates and the role of exam anxiety in piano education process. The aim of the study is to determine the exam anxiety levels of the music teacher candidates and to reveal the differences in the exam anxiety levels in terms of gender, education grade, high school type graduated, daily piano practice duration, age of starting piano education and piano academic achievement grade. The sample group consisted of 718 music teacher candidates receiving educaion in Music Education Division of Fine Arts Department of Education Faculty of seven universities in Turkey. The data of the study was obtained by a personal information form and Exam Anxiety Inventory, and the data was analyzed by unrelated group t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe test. The results of the research showed that the exam anxiety of the music teacher candidates was moderate. In addition, women's exam anxiety was found to be significantly higher than men's exam anxiety. Exam anxiety levels of music teacher candidates did not make a significant difference according to the class they studied, the type of high school they graduated from and the age of starting piano education. Their anxiety levels were statistically different in favor of the music teacher candidates who study piano more than 2 hours a day according to the daily piano practice duration and in favor of the music teacher candidates whose piano academic success grade was AA-BA.
