This article analyzes one of the most important political-intellectual debates in the field of the Argentine armed organizations of the seventies: that took place between the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Revolutionary army of the people during 1971. In fact, in there developed the main controversies that separated the armed organizations of the non-Peronist Marxist left from the identifies with the Peronist left but that, in turn, also claimed their affiliation with Marxism. Our objective is to analyze the controversy considering four central topics: 1) the status granted to Marxism, 3) the character of Peronism and 4) the way of thinking the ideology, inseparable from their respective ways of thinking the working experience and the vanguard. Methodologically the article appeals to a qualitative strategy based on the analysis of the documents that were part of the controversy, other writings of the FAR and the ERP, as well as bibliography on the period.
