Abstract:

This study, based on the opinions of teachers and school managers in a secondary school, explored how the discipline, which has a decisive role in class management, is defined, justified and how it is associated with the discipline. Research is an example of the event (situation) study of the quality research methods. The work group consists of 20 branch teachers, 4 guide teachers and 5 school managers in a secondary school located in the center of the province of Ankara in the 2014-2015 educational year. The selection of participants is based on the purposeful sampling technique (purposeful sampling). For the collection of research data, a semi-configured interview form was used. In the analysis of the research data, the content analysis method was used. The findings are encoded into themes and sub-themes and converted into tables with their frequencies. According to the research, the majority of teachers and school managers focus on the definition of discipline on the rules, environmental conformity, desirable behaviors, order, control; order, efficiency, rules, control and success in the justification of the discipline; role modeling, control, rules, success and order in relation to the discipline. Participants have established a strong relationship between the definition of discipline and the justification of discipline. While branch teachers and school managers tend to understand the discipline that dominates in the school, guide teachers have taken a critical position in the discipline.
