The increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in the Brazilian population has been widely documented, while the media has been exerting continuous pressure for a “perfect body”. This pressure can make the individual feel dissatisfied with his Body Image. Objective: Evaluate the association between the use of social networks and (dis)satisfaction with body image. Materials and Method: For the assessment of body image, a scale of 15 silhouettes was applied to assess body image in 518 participants in phase 4 of the Pró-Health Study, a cohort of technical-administrative employees from a university in Rio de Janeiro, obtaining a perceived silhouette and a desired silhouette. Dissatisfaction was obtained through the difference between the perceived and the desired silhouette. Internet use was assessed using a questionnaire with 11 answer options related to the purpose of use; through the responses, three categories were created: group 1 (people who reported accessing the internet but not accessing social networks); group 2 (people who reported accessing social networks) and group 3 (people who reported not accessing the internet). The association between (dis) satisfaction with body image and access to social networks was acessed via multinomial logistic regression. Discussion: Most individuals (80.5%) was dissatisfied with being overweight (n=417), 11% were satisfied and 8.5% were dissatisfied with underweight. Results: Men were less likely to be dissatisfied with being overweight than women (OR: 0,42 IC95%: 0,22 - 0,82). Conclusion: There was no association between (dis)satisfaction with body image among users of social networks.
