Özet:

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of the adolescent parents before and after the training on adolescent health and psychology, who were admitted to Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, Department of Family Medicine, CIDEM, Youth Counselling and Health Service Center for Adolescence. Material Method: It was a cross-sectional descriptive study, which was performed on March 2012, in Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, Department of Family Medicine, CIDEM, Youth Counselling and Health Service Center for Ado-lescence. Twentyfive adolescent parents of the total 35 volunteers were participated in the study. Knowledge and attitude level of the 25 adolescents parents, who received training on adolescent health and psychology by a trained specialist on family medicine and adolescent health and a psyhologist, were assessed by a 35-item questionnare. Statistical analysis were per-formed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences 15.0 software programe. Data were investigated as percentage. Findings: Of the 25 parents; 18 (72%) were women and 7 (28%) were men. Avarage age of the parents was 45,4+0,59. Most of the parents were housewife (n: 14, 56%). All of the parents (100%) were married. When the answers, given to questions assessing the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents were examined; for the question “Do you think that you are ready for your adolescent, to share his/her thoughts and feeling ?” 17 parents (68%) responsed “yes” in pretest; this number incresed 22 (88%) in posttest. Besides; parents were asked about the most necessary sexual education for adolescents. In the pretest; 12 people (48%) gave the answer “sexually transmitted diseases”, 2 (20%) “family planning” and 8 (32%) “other”. In the final test, this question was replied as “sexually transmitted diseases” by 10 people (40%), “family planning” by 6 people (24%) and “other” by 9 people (36%). Moreover; parents were questioned about the most influencial family attitude on adolescent and family relations. This question was answered as “democratis approach” by 19 people (76%) and “authoritarian approach” by 6 people (24%) in pretest and the “demogratic approach” was the answer for 25 prople (100%) in posttest. Result: To show the right approach to adolescents, parents are required to take information from the right sources with the right information. Perhaps the most important of these is the parent trainings, will be given by experienced medical personnel. The purpose of parent education program is to ensure the establishment of a healthy communication between parents and adolescents; so to make adolescent a part of the society as healthy and happy individuals. For this purpose; parents education must be increased and must be supported by both government and the private sector.
