Abstract:

Abstract Cuba has maintained declining fertility since the early 1970s, which in 1978 exceeded the population replacement threshold, which it has not recovered to date. This is a descriptive and cross-sectional work whose main objective is to present the Cuban birth rate at the beginning of the 21st century from a socio-demographic perspective and with a special focus on the main characteristics that distinguished women who had children between 2000 and 2008. , at the time they had their offspring. The purpose is to contribute to systematize information of this cut for future studies in the field of fertility, birth rate, population growth and aging. The source of information used are the birth databases that are generated annually by the National Statistics Office of Cuba, based on the Official Birth Registration Model of the Ministry of Justice and that register 99.9 percent of births. births that occur in the national territory.
