Bu yüzden Yunan kamuoyu müttefiklerin görüşlerini etkileyecek şekilde İstanbul’a dair yayınlar yapmaktaydılar. İstanbul Türk basını ise Rumların taleplerine itiraz eden yayınlarla İstanbul’un Türk idaresinde kalmaya devam etmesi gerekliliğini savunuyordu. Dönemin şartları gereği müttefiklere yönelik sert yayınlar yapamayan Türk basını, Rum/Yunan taleplerine itirazlar üzerinden İstanbul’da Türk idaresinin devamını savunmaktaydı. Dolayısıyla Türk basınının eleştirileri sadece Rumların taleplerini değil İstanbul’u Türk idaresinden çıkaracak diğer projeleri de içeriyordu. Bu makalede, Mondros Mütarekesi sonrası Türk basınının İstanbul’a yönelik çeşitli taleplere itirazları ve konuyla ilgili tartışmaların gerekçeleri incelenmeye çalışılacaktır.
As the First World War continued, one of the main objectives of the opposition states was to conquer Istanbul and end the Turkish administration in Istanbul. First of all, the allies on Istanbul, which was left to Russia, had not reached a clear decision after Russia's withdrawal from the war. This uncertainty continued after the occupation of Istanbul after the Mondros fighting. The allies, along with the discussions between them, were also asking for Turkey and Greece for Istanbul. The Istanbul Rum press was publishing the form of the unification of Istanbul with Greece or the administration of the city should be left to the Roms. Greek Prime Minister Venizelos was also trying to consider the decisions that would allow Istanbul to be left to Greece during the peace conference. But he did not find the support he expected from the allies. That’s why the Greek public was making publications about Istanbul in such a way as to influence the opinions of the allies. The Istanbul Turkish press, however, defended the need for Istanbul to remain in the Turkish administration with publications opposing the Romans' demands. The Turkish press, which was unable to make severe publications against the allies due to the conditions of the period, was defending the continuation of the Turkish administration in Istanbul through objections to the Romanian/Greek demands. Therefore, the criticism of the Turkish press included not only the demands of the Romans, but also other projects that would remove Istanbul from the Turkish administration. In this article, we will try to examine the objections to the various demands of the Turkish press to Istanbul after the Mondros Talk and the reasons for discussions on the subject.
