Türkiye ekonomisinde önemli bir yere sahip olan küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmeler üretime ve istihdama olan katkıları, değişen pazar koşullarına hızlı uyum sağlamaları, esnek ve dinamik yapıya sahip olmaları ile bilinmektedir. İstanbul'daki küçük ve orta ölçekli mobilya üretim işletmelerinin sorunları, mevcut durumunun tespiti ve artan rekabet koşullarında yeniden yapılandırılmasına yardımcı olmak amacıyla anket ve yüz yüze görüşme esasına dayalı bir çalışma yapılmıştır. Buna göre sorunlar; %35,5 ile eğitimli eleman eksikliği, %27,5 ile hammadde, %24 ile teknolojik yetersizlik ve %13 ile enerji olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu işletmelerin çağdaş üretim yöntemlerine geçmelerini sağlamak için sektörde eğitime önem verilmeli, eğitimli eleman sayısı artırılmalı, küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmelerin bir araya gelerek ekonomik güçlerini ve üretim kapasitelerini birleştirmeleri gerekmektedir. Ayrıca hammadde kalitesi artırılmalı, yeni teknoloji kullanımı teşvik edilmeli, ucuz enerji sağlanmalı, pazarlama ve reklam konularında eğitim verilmeli kredi desteği vb. destekleyici önlemlerin alınması gerekmektedir
Small and medium size firms which has a large place in Turkish economy, and its assistance to production and human resource useage can be defined by the adaptibility to sudden changing market conditions, having a flexable and dynamic ability. To identify the problems about the furniture producing firms in Istanbul, their current status and to reconstruct in a increasing competitive situation, a questionary has been made by the means of face to face interview and inquary. According to this study’s results the less of educated labor with a percentage of 35.5% , with a percentage of 27.5% raw material, technologic incapacity with a percentage of 24% and energy insufficiency with a percentage of 13%. These problems had been considered and some suggestions about solving these problems were made as follows encouraging this compines, education to use modern technologic production techniques, cheap energy, education about marketing and advertisement
