Purpose: Central nervous system infections (SSS) are a clinical picture that early diagnosis/treatment is critically important, which can cause severe scales, and viruses are among the main factors that are detected. In the determination of central nervous system infections, nuclear acid tests are used as a gold standard. In this study, in the last decade in Turkey, studies on viral factors with the method of polymerase chain reaction (PZR) from brain-omurylic fluid (BOS) samples have been evaluated and bibliometric analysis has been done. Method: From 1 January 2010 to 1 January 2020, two national and two international congress reports have been scanned in addition to two national (Ulakbim, Magazine) and four international (PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science) databases. Results: 12669 BOS samples were included from a total of 33 studies in the study. The most published magazine is the Microbiology Bulletin with four studies. The most BOS examples were gathered in İzmir (n=5566), the most broadcasts were made by the universities of Ankara, Ege and Hacettepe with four studies. The number of work done has tended to increase over the years. The arithmetic average of the percentages of the main viral factors identified in the studies for enterovirus, herpes simplex virus, human herpes virus 6 and 7, adenovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, sitomegalovirus, varisella zoster virus, human parechovirus and parvovirus B19 was calculated as 2.64, 2.58, 1.90, 0.41, 1.71, 1.57, 1.24, 0.83, 0.47 and 0.05 per cent respectively. Results: The study on the frequency of viral SSS infections in Turkey with the bibliometric analysis has been studied and assessed in the last ten years. The obtained data will be useful in determining the place of the subject in scientific literature and in comparison with clinically-coordinated, new and more reliable epidemiological data where the use of molecular methods increases.
