Abstract:

Individuals with empathic thinking understanding understand the thoughts and feelings of individuals by placing themselves in place of others. High-talent students are also quite advanced in communication and language skills, such as expressing themselves with faster learning abilities than age, understanding the feelings and thoughts of others, making conclusions about their psychological conditions. The aim of this research is to identify the views of special talented students on the "If I Were" event. In the framework of this purpose, one of the quality research methods in the research has been used the case study method. The research was carried out in the 2017-2018 educational-educational year with 18 (9 men, 9 girls) high-talent students continuing to the Support-1 Education program at a Science and Arts Center located in the Southern Marmara Region. In the research, the activity form created by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. High-talent students are asked to speak, express their feelings and thoughts by putting themselves in place with personal items such as shoes, beds, toothbrushes, pencil. In the analysis of the activity data applied to highly skilled students, the activity forms are studied as a document and analyzed by the visual analysis method. The data obtained in the visual analysis are given directly according to the themes, with quotes, conclusions, and interpretations. When research findings are evaluated in a general sense, the feelings and thoughts that superior talented students express by placing themselves in place of their individual objects are gathered under two core topics. These are situations related to conditions of use and senses. High-talent students have been shown to load some senses, such as seeing, smelling, feeling, especially by attributing vitality to things. In research, the development of empathic thinking skills, the opening of workshops of various thinking skills for highly skilled students, the organization of competitions and projects, the study of different patterns that demonstrate empathic thinking skills, was suggested.
