Abstract:

The Europeanization of German Foreign Policy, using the concepts of Europeanization and soft power, is studied through the use of soft power by the European Union in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The importance of the study is derived from the use of the concepts of Europeanization and soft power to explain the crisis in Ukraine and the assessment of the policies of the EU towards it under Germany. The main argument of the study is that while Germany successfully raises its national preferences to the EU level in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the European Union is also effective in using civil and soft power uniting elements instead of hard-power elements against conflict. In this context, first of all, the concepts of Europeanization and soft power are presented in detail. Later, in the second part of the study detailed the Europeanization of German foreign policy through the dimensions of Europeanization. The third part of the study examines the role of Germany in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the impact of the European Union on the use of soft power against the crisis. The study concluded that Germany successfully placed its national policy at the EU level in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and that the European Union used only civil and soft power elements during the crisis against Russia.
