Obesity is the consequence of the unbalance between the storage and mobilization of fat. The carbohydrates ingested in excess influences such unbalance, for it stimulates the lipogenesis (synthesis of fatty acids through carbohydrates). The present review study has a goal to analyse the influence of lipogenesis in the fat gain in Humans in various situations. The lipogenesis occurs in the liver and in the adipose tissue and contributes very little with the raise of body fat being the carbohydrate type ingested, the composition, quantity of calories and the duration of the diet, the body composition, gender and the genetics of an individual modify this process in different forms. In mixed diets, the lipogenesis is not an important matter for the gain of body fat, since the storage of triacilglicerol occurs indirectly when reducing the mobilization of fat and increasing the carbohydrate.
