Amaç: Ülke ekonomilerinde önemli yere sahip olan imalat sanayide rekabetçiliğin geliştirilebilmesi için işgücü verimliliğini arttırmaya yönelik stratejiler benimsenmesi, sürdürülebilir ekonomik büyümenin temelidir. Ekonomik büyümeye üretim yaklaşımı ile bakılması gerektiğinden, bu çalışmada, büyümenin lokomotifi olarak görülen imalat sanayinin işgücü verimliliği ile ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi araştırılmak istenmiştir. Yöntem: Bu çalışmada, VAR Analizi kullanılarak 2005-2017 döneminde Türkiye’de imalat sanayi işgücü verimliliği ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki araştırılmıştır. Bulgular: Yapılan istatistiksel analizlerin sonucunda, hem uzun dönemde hem de kısa dönemde imalat sanayi işgücü verimliliği ve ekonomik büyüme arasında çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. İmalat sanayindeki işgücü verimliliği artışının ülke ekonomisinde büyümeye neden olduğu ve ekonomik büyümenin de imalat sanayideki işgücü verimliliği artışına neden olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Özgünlük: İmalat sanayindeki işgücü verimliliği ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi analiz etmek için, imalat sanayii çalışılan saat başına üretim endeksi, Gayri Safi Yurtiçi Hâsıla zincirlenmiş hacim endeksi ve imalat sanayi kapasite kullanım oranına ait üç aylık verilerden oluşan seriler kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel yöntemler kullanılarak yapılan bu çalışma, literatüre katkı sağlaması bakımından önemlidir.
Goal: The adoption of strategies to increase labour efficiency in order to develop competitiveness in the manufacturing industry, which has an important role in the country’s economies, is the basis of sustainable economic growth. Since economic growth should be viewed by the production approach, this study has sought to investigate the relationship between labour efficiency and economic growth of the manufacturing industry, which is considered the locomotive of growth. Method: In this study, using VAR Analysis, the relationship between the productive industrial labour efficiency and economic growth in Turkey was studied in the period 2005-2017. Results: The statistical analysis has found a two-way causal relationship between productive industry labour efficiency and economic growth both in the long term and in the short term. The increase in labour efficiency in the manufacturing industry has led to growth in the country’s economy and the economic growth has led to the increase in labour efficiency in the manufacturing industry. Originality: To analyze the relationship between labour efficiency and economic growth in the manufacturing industry, a series of three-month data of the production index per hour studied in the manufacturing industry, the volume index chained in the domestic net and the production industry capacity use rate were used. This study, using statistical methods, is important in terms of contributing to literature.
Purpose: In order to improve the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, which has an important place in the economies of the country, adopting strategies to increase labor productivity is the basis of sustainable economic growth. Since economic growth should be viewed with a production approach, this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between labor productivity and economic growth of the manufacturing industry, which is seen as the engine of growth. Methodology: In this study, the relationship between economic growth and labor productivity in the manufacturing industry during the period 2005-2017 in Turkey has been analysed by using the VAR Analysis. Findings: As a result of the statistical analysis, a bidirectional causality relationship between labor productivity in the manufacturing industry and economic growth has been determined both in the long run and in the short term. It has been determined that the increase in labor productivity in the manufacturing industry causes growth in the country's economy and economic growth causes an increase in labor productivity in the manufacturing industry vice versa. Originality: In order to analyze the relationship between labor productivity in the manufacturing industry and economic growth, the data series for 3 months consisting of the manufacturing industry's production index per hour worked, the volume index chained to the gross domestic product and the manufacturing industry capacity utilization rate were used. This study using statistical methods is important in terms of contributing to the literature.
