Abstract:

In this study, Surya Duru's film Keloğlan (1971) is studied in the framework of the structural approach used by the famous Russian formalist, literary critic and popular scientist Vladimir Propp in his famous work, The Physiology of the Tale. Propp revealed that the fairy tales have structurally fixed functions, and that these are laws that structurally form the fairy tales. Propp’s analysis method is a method of review that applies not only to fairy tales, but also to many kinds of fairy tales, including film films. Propp said, although not all functions are available in all stories, the sequence of functions will not change. It is clear that the film, divided into its structural elements, carries the vast majority of the 31 functions that Propp reveals. However, when a film is applied to the text, it is seen that some functions are in order to change. However, Vladimir Propp’s structural analysis method remains an important method that can be used in the analysis of fictional communication content.
