Obesity is the main cause of some diseases such as, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes mellitus, diseases which are usually only monitored, and when it comes to childhood obesity risk factors is complicated, because this is facing a body in training and can get to adulthood with compromised health. This study had the aim to relate the level of physical activity of parents in relation to BMI in children, the Bradesco Foundation school in the city of Cacoal-RO. Materials and Methods: The field research used the method of convenience for the constitution of the sample. Were part of the research on 275 children aged 07 to 12 years of both sexes enrolled in the Bradesco Foundation school, in total, 17 children (6.2%) were classified as overweight or obese. The measures used were weight, height and body circumferences of children and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire - IPAQ to quantify the level of physical activity of parents. Results: There was a prevalence of overweight / obesity in girls, 3.6% of all children. The mean BMI was higher in children who had an average of 27.55 kg / m² than in girls who had an average of 25.59 kg / m². The male children had higher average in all circles on the female. It was found that 88.2% of parents are potentially irregularly active. Conclusion: The physical activity variables and BMI, showed a slight relationship, concluding that the less active parents are, the greater the propensity of children will become obese.
