Abstract:

This collection focuses on the spreading foreign insects species that are among the most important topics of world biological diversity. The impact of trade, transportation, tourism and travel activities, which increased and reached the highest levels in the 19th and 20th centuries, on the spread of foreign insects, and the importance of these factors in terms of these species, is highlighted. Tobacco beans [Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius, 1889) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)], western flower tripsi [Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande, 1895) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae)], potato insects [Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say, 1824) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)], Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard, 1926) (Diptera: Agromyzidae), orange leaf gallery [(Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton, 1856) (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae)] and tomato beans [Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)] are species that spread to Turkey. Following the emphasis on the negatives generated by spreading foreign insects from the general level to the ecosystem level, the steps taken in other countries in this regard are indicated, what should be done from the point of view of Turkey is highlighted.
