İslam dünyasında başlayan Sunni-Şiî çatışmaları sonucunda 910 yılında Tunus merkezli Şiî Fatımî Devleti kurulmuştur. Fatımî Devleti kurulduğu andan itibaren Ağlebilerden devraldığı donanma sayesinde Akdeniz’de önemli bir güç haline gelmiştir. Nitekim Fatımilerin Sicilya Adası’nda hakimiyet kurma çabaları ve Güney İtalya üzerine düzenledikleri saldırılar, Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu’nu rahatsız etmeye başlamıştır. Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu Fatımilere karşı mücadelelerinde çoğunlukla başarısızlığa uğramış ve Fatımîlere vergi ödemek zorunda kaldığı barış anlaşmaları yapmak zorunda kalmıştır. Ancak yapılan bu anlaşmalara rağmen Doğu Roma Sicilya’da Fatımîlere karşı çıkan isyanları destekleyerek Fatımî hakimiyetini bertaraf etmeye çalışmıştır. Fatımîlere karşı Endülüs Emevileri ile de ittifak yapmayan çalışan Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu bu konuda başarı elde edememiştir. Fatımîler uzun bir süre Batı Akdeniz’de Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu için bir tehdit unsuru olmaya devam etmiştir.
As a result of the Sunni-Shia conflicts that began in the Islamic world, the Syiah Fatima State was founded in 910 in Tunisia. From the moment the Fatima State was founded, thanks to the Navy that it took over from the Blessed, it has become an important force in the Mediterranean. In fact, the efforts of the Fatim to dominate the Sicily Island and their attacks on Southern Italy have begun to disrupt the Eastern Roman Empire. The Eastern Roman Empire has mostly failed in its struggles against the Fatimites and has been forced to make peace agreements that the Fatimites have to pay taxes. However, despite these agreements, Eastern Rome tried to remove its domination by supporting the rebellions against the Fatima in Sicily. The work of the Eastern Roman Empire, which was not allied with the Endulus Emevils against the Fatimists, did not succeed in this. For a long time, the Fatimites have continued to be a threat to the Eastern Roman Empire in the West Mediterranean.
The Sunni-Shiite clashes in the Islamic World took place in 910 Tunisian-based Shiite Fatimid State. Fatimid State has become an important power in the Mediterranean Sea Thanks to the navy it took over from Ağlebi. As a matter of fact, the Fatimid efforts to establish dominance on the island of Sicily and the attacks on Southern Italy started to disturb the Eastern Roman Empire. The Eastern Roman Empire was often unsuccessful in their struggle againts the Fatimids and was forced to make peace agreements with which the Fatimid had to pay taxes. However, despite these agreements, The Eastern Rome tried to eliminate the Fatimid rule by supporting the rebellions againts the Fatimid in Eastern Rome Sicily. The Eastern Roman Empire, which didn’t make an alliance with the Andalusian Umayyad againts the Fatimid, didn’t succeed in this regard. For a long time, the Fatimid remained a threat to the Eastern Roman Empire in the Western Mediterranean.
