Abstract:

Health and safety in the workplace is a concept that has been understood in recent years. Occupational health and safety can be defined as practices aimed at preserving the health and safety of employees at a workplace, eliminating the potential accidents or occupational diseases that occur at workplace, or reducing to the minimum. The business discipline is the name given to all sanctions that prevent employees from deviating from the long-term and short-term goals of the company in the framework of a set of rules. The aim of this study is to examine whether health and safety practices and practices of occupational discipline have an impact on the performance of employees. In this context, the first part of the study explained what the practices of occupational health and safety are, the historic development of occupational health and safety was studied and the legal obligations in this field were specified. In the second part of the study, the concept of business discipline in the workplace environment was explained, the theoretical part of the study was completed by giving detailed information about the concepts of performance and employee performance, informing why the business discipline is important. The study, in the application section of the Erzurum province, has been applied with the method of face-to-face consultation to employees of different companies operating in the food and service sector. The impact of occupational health and safety practices and the work discipline on the performance of employees is theoretically explained. The hypotheses and research models developed in this direction have been tested through multiple regression analysis. As a result; Practices of Occupational Health and Safety and Practices of Occupational Discipline have been found to have an impact on the performance of employees.
