Bu araştırmanın amacı, polis memurlarının hayat boyu öğrenme eğilimlerini incelemek ve bazı demografik değişkenlerle ilişkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2018 yılında Gaziantep ili Şahinbey ve Şehitkamil İlçesi Emniyet Müdürlüklerinde görevli polis memurları oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın örneklemini ise farklı birimlerde görev yapan rasgele seçilen 304 polis memuru oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma belirli bir grubun özelliklerini ortaya koymak için yapıldığından bir tarama araştırmasıdır. Araştırmada, veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve Yaman ve Yazar (2015) tarafından geliştirilen “Hayat Boyu Öğrenme Eğilimleri Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirliği tespit edilmiş ve Cronbach Alpha katsayısı 0,97 olarak bulunmuştur. Araştırmada istatistiksel analizlerde bağımsız örneklemler t testi ve Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (One-Way Anova) kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda, çalışmaya katılan polis memurlarının hayat boyu öğrenme eğilimlerinin orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, polislerin hayat boyu öğrenme eğilimlerinin cinsiyete, öğrenim düzeyine ve mezun olunan okul türüne göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı, buna karşın yaş, mesleki kıdem ve yabancı dil bilgisi bakımından ise anlamlı farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
The aim of this research is to study the lifelong learning trends of police officers and to reveal their relationships with some demographic variables. The universe of the investigation is formed by police officers in the Gaziantep district of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil district security departments in 2018. The example of the study consists of 304 randomly selected police officers working in different units. This research is a scanning research since it is done to reveal the characteristics of a particular group. The research used the "Personal Information Form" as a data collection tool and the "Life Learning Trends Scale" developed by Yaman and the Author (2015) as a tool for data collection. The reliability of the measurement was determined and the Cronbach Alpha ratio was 0.97. The study used independent samples in statistical analysis and one-way variance analysis (one-way anova). The analysis of the data was found that police officers who participated in the work had a medium lifetime learning tendency. Moreover, it has been found that police’s lifelong learning tendencies don’t differ statistically significantly according to gender, level of education and type of school graduated, but there are significant differences in terms of age, professional age and foreign language knowledge.
This study aimed to examine police officers’ lifelong learning tendency and to determine the relationship between the various demographic variables. The population of the research included police officers working at Şehitkamil and Şahinbey District Police Headquarters of Gaziantep in 2018. The research sample consisted of 304 police officers selected randomly from different departments of the headquarters. This study which is based on quantitative approach is a survey study. As data collection tools, “Personal Information Form” and “Lifelong Learning Tendency Scale” developed by Yaman and Yazar (2015) were used. Reliability of the scale was assured, and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was found as 0.97. In statistical analysis, Independent samples T-test and One-Way Anova were applied in the research. As a result of data analysis, it was found that police officers’ lifelong learning tendency was moderate level. While police officers’ lifelong learning tendency did not differ statistically in terms of gender, educational background, and school of graduation, it was statistically different in terms of age, professional seniority and foreign language level
