Özet:

Turkeys; emergency aid, disaster management and firefighting services are presented under different management headings when compared to European Union countries. Unlike Turkey, in the European Union countries, it is noted that emergency is handled with a single number system. In order to overcome this dissimilarity, "Emergency Aid and Disaster Management" undergraduate program of School of Health at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was opened in 2005 and started to accept students. Department program involves Health Sciences (Emergency Medicine and Public Health), Management Sciences, Educational Sciences, Technical Sciences and other fields. With the initiative of the Association of Emergency and Disaster Management, which was established in 2011 as a civil society representative for this department, which was renamed in 2015 as Emergency Aid and Disaster Management Association (AYAYDER), the title problem of the graduates of the Emergency Aid and Disaster Management department has been solved by the decision of the Council of Higher Education. The Council of Higher Education has approved the use of the title "Emergency Aid and Disaster Manager" by the graduates of Emergency and Disaster Management department, taking into consideration the opinion of the Interuniversity Board in 2015 and the existence of medical rescue lessons in the curriculum of the department. Departing from the motivation for the establishment of the department, the Association of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management organized the 1st and 2nd AYAY Education-Training workshops, and works on job description, curriculum and employment areas were carried out. As a result of the workshops organized, Emergency Aid and Disaster Managers’ duties, employment areas and framework training program for the department were determined. This article aims to provide information on Emergency Aid and Disaster Managers’ missions and employment areas, which emerges as a different professional group in the Emergency Health Services, Disaster Management and Firefighting fields.
