Abstract:

Foumier Gangrene is a relatively rare, mixed aerobic and anaerobic infection of genital and perineal tissues. In our clinic between 1994-2000, 10 patients diagnosed with FG were considered retrospective. Our average age is 59.7 (34-83) years and all of our facts are male. The most common place of the disease was the perineo-skrotal area (7 patients, 70%), the most common associated disease was Diabetcs Mellitus (7 patients, 70%). The Nckrotic tissue surgical debridman is applied to all patients with a wide spectrum of antibiotic therapy and mitriationcl support, while the second session of reconstructive surgical initiative to repair the wound defcklini is added to two patients and the hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) to one patient. The mortality rate was 10 percent (I patient). Despite early diagnosis, wide spectrum of suitable antibiotics, surgical debritman applications, nutritional support and HBO treatment, FG still has high morbidity and mortality rates.
