INTRODUCTION: The incidence of cervical dysplasia are significantly rising nowadays because of the screening programs. Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) is one of the most common therapeutic method for cervical dysplasia. In this study, we investigated the effect of LEEP on female sexual functions in reproductive age. The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) which was as a reliable and valid measure in our country was used to examine the female sexual functions in this study. FSFI, which includes sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain subgroups, was completed by sexual active patients who were planned to be treated with LEEP. At follow-up, 6 months after LEEP, patients were evaluated with FSFI. Results: This study included 35 patients treated with LEEP. The median age was 41 (range 29-52), and median parity was 2. 60% of the patients were smokers. The average of total FSFI scores before LEEP was 24,9 ± 5,3, while it was 23,9 ± 6,0 after 6 months from LEEP (p: 0.121). In particular, the average sexual desire points were found low before and after the procedure (respectively 3,3 and 3,2). Discussions and conclusions: Sexual dysfunction, especially low sexual desire, plays an important role in patients with cervical dysplasia treated with LEEP. However, there was no significant difference in the sexual functions of patients before and after LEEP.
