Abstract:

Professional journals have a special importance in the history of different professions including pharmacy. Some important pharmacy journals that were published in Turkey are as follow: Resimli Eczacı Gazetesi (1924-1926), Türk Eczacı Âlemi (1927-1931), Farmakolog (1931-1954), Folia Pharmaceutica (1949-1968). This study aims to examine a pharmacy journal which has been published by Prof. Dr. Kasım Cemal Güven since 1954 at Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy. Through its publication life this journal was entitled Eczacılık Bülteni, Eczacılık Mecmuası, Acta Pharmaceutica Turcica, and Acta Pharmaceutica Scientia in a chronological order. In addition to scientific papers, different topics were also discussed in this journal, such like pharmaceutical organisations, pharmacy ethics, state of pharmacies, drug advertisements, drug prices, important figures in pharmacy profession, pharmacy regulations and laws, international developments in pharmacy. In this study, transition of this long-lived journal through history and its contributions to the Turkish history of pharmacy were investigated.
