In the first article of this study designed as two separate articles, the theoretical structure of psychological counseling sensitive to religion and culture was examined. Spiritual counseling that isn’t different from classic psychological counseling technically, t is the integration of religious and spiritual resources into the consultation process with the active participation of the client. Religious and spiritual values are the main reference point for many people regarding the perception and meaning of reality in situations of intense tension and anxiety. Because one of the most important functions of beliefs and values is their use as important coping resources in crises. In other words, life constantly creates problems and people often try to make sense of the situation by referring to their beliefs in such cases. Religion has a role in both providing comfort and control, as well as providing meaning and instilling hope in difficult times of human life. Also, religion is a resource of refuge and consolation for many people in these kinds of crises, in the unexpected situations that disrupt the natural flow of life and in the traumatic situations. Under the influence of the positivist understanding of science, the role of religion in dealing with problems in all fields that express therapeutic processes have either been ignored or a critical approach has been developed. However, it’s been observed that there’s been a huge increase in the number of works on religion and coping with problems in the field of health and social sciences in the last twenty to thirty years. In most of the theoretical and practical works in the field of psychology of religion, there has been a growing tendency that religion has a meaning and value beyond the view that it is a natural defense in the field of psychology. The positive results that emerged as a result of the experimental work on the relationship between coping with religion and spiritual health and the bases enabled them to benefit from the basis of religious success and to develop therapeutic techniques in the counseling processes. Despite the fact that psychotherapeutic approaches combined with spirituality are more recent, promising treatment models which based upon methods of coping skills began to improve. Experimental evidences that these models are useful have been to show up recently. In studies that evaluate the effects of religious coping styles that belong to religious traditions it’s been determined that religious support, encouragement and guidance are useful in dealing with feelings of mourning. On the other hand, it has been determined that praying, talking about religious issues and reading of Koran Verses are effective in overcoming feelings of grief and anxiety.
