In this study by acting on the assumption that Israel legitimizes the hatred against Turkey through the media, on the axis of hate speech used in the political arena, the news published between 16 -31 July 2016 in the Israeli English newspaper Haaretz regarding the 15 July coup attempt. The texts that have been categorized by taking into account the authoritarian/dictator perception to be created about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the staged coup view and disaster scenarios have been analyzed in the framework of Teun van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis model. In this context, it has been found out that the English news texts showing true colors of Turkey-Israel relations, with the setup of othering reinforces historical “us” and “them” perception, with the exaggerated comments, insults and derogatory expressions used against President Erdogan, hate speech has reached a level of aggresivenes.
