The aim of this qualitative case study is to reveal the opinions of the students of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Turkish Music State Conservatory on Western music lessons. The study group of the study conducted in the 2021-2022 academic year consisted of 26 students studying in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions created by the researcher and analyzed through content analysis. The results obtained from the analysis were interpreted by determining themes and categories. The findings of the study revealed that most of the students had positive opinions about Western music theory and piano lessons, and that they considered the content of these lessons to be sufficient, but they did not consider the duration of the lessons to be sufficient. They also stated that Western music lessons contributed to Turkish music lessons, Western music and piano lessons would contribute to their future and that piano can be used as an accompaniment instrument in Turkish music. Based on the aforementioned findings, it can be said that conservatory students, who predominantly receive Turkish music education, considered Western music and piano lessons to be necessary and supportive for Turkish music lessons. Finally, the majority of the students receiving Turkish music education think that Western music lessons will contributed to their professional career.
