Etik açıdan baktığımızda psikolojik danışmanın, danışanını içinde yetiştiği kültüre ya da danışanın danışma sürecine getirdiği problemlerine göre seçmesinin doğru olmadığı söylenebilir. Psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik (PDR) programlarında eğitimlerine devam eden psikolojik danışman adaylarına teorik ve uygulamalı derslerle çok kültürlü bakış açısının kazandırılması ve tinselliğin ne olup olmadığıyla ilgili kapsayıcı bilgilerin verilmesi, Türkiye’de PDR alanının geleceği açısından önemli gözükmektedir. Kültürel farklılıkları ve tinselliği yok sayan psikolojik danışma sürecinin başarısız olacağı, danışmanların da bu süreçte kültürel hapsolma ve mesleki tatminsizlik duyguları yaşayabilecekleri dikkate alınmalıdır. Kültürel açıdan oldukça zengin bir ülke olarak Türkiye’de görev yapacak psikolojik danışman adaylarının bu kültürel mozaik içinde çok farklı yapıdan danışanlarla çalışabilmesi ve danışma sürecini yürütürken danışanlarıyla empati kurabilmesi yalnızca alacakları iyi eğitimle mümkündür. Üniversitelerin PDR programlarına ‘Çok kültürlülük ve Tinsellik’ derslerini yerleştirerek danışman adaylarına süpervizyon verilmesi, çok kültürlülük ve tinselliğin araştırmacılarca daha fazla tartışılması ve danışma sürecinin iki önemli gücü olarak ifade edebileceğimiz bu iki kavramın psikolojik danışma sürecine dahil edilmesi önemli durmaktadır.
When we consider from the ethical perspective and take account of the fact that it is not accurate for the psychological counselors to choose their client according to the culture they had been raised in or to the problems the clients bring into the consultation process, it seems important for the future of the PCG field in Turkey that the consultant candidates continuing their education in psychological counseling and guidance (PCG) programs should be given the multicultural perspective and provided with inclusive information about what spirituality is through theoretical and applied courses. It is evident that a psychological process neglecting the cultural differences and spirituality would not be successful and that the consultants might experience cultural encapsulation and occupational dissatisfaction during this process. It is only possible for the consultant candidates who will work in Turkey which is a highly rich country in terms of culture to be able to work with consultants coming from very different backgrounds within this cultural mosaic and to empathize with their clients while conducting the consultation process through the good education they will receive. It appears to be essential to give supervision to consultant candidates by embedding the courses of ‘Multiculturalism and Spirituality’ into PCG programs of the universities as well as the researchers to discuss more about multiculturalism and spirituality and that these two concepts are included into the psychological counseling process as two important resources of the counseling process.
