Osmanlı Devleti Birinci Dünya Savaşı (1914-1918) sonunda imzalanan Mondros Ateşkes Antlaşması’yla yenilgiyi kabullenmiştir. Bununla birlikte mevcut duruma karşı çıkan vatanseverler, Mustafa Kemal Paşa’nın önderliğinde Kurtuluş Savaşı’nı başlatmış ve Türkiye adına savaşa asıl son veren belgeyi, yani Lozan Barış Antlaşması’nı imzalama başarısını göstermiştir. Lozan Barış Antlaşması, Milli Mücadele’den başarılı bir şekilde çıkan Türk Milletinin bağımsızlığını tüm dünyaya duyuran ve bu durumun kabul edilmesini sağlayan bir belge niteliğini taşımaktadır. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşuna giden yolu da açması bakımından önemi haiz olan Lozan Barış Antlaşması’nın hem yurt içinde hem de yurt dışında önemli akisleri olmuştur. Özellikle Antlaşmanın ikinci evresini geçirdiği dönem, çok çetin müzakerelere yol açmış, gerek mecliste gerekse yurt genelinde basın yoluyla tartışmalar yaşanmış ve antlaşma sonrası değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Millî Mücadele’yi Türkiye adına bitiren Lozan Barış Antlaşması ile ilgili yapılmış çok sayıda inceleme ve araştırma olduğu da muhakkaktır. Ancak Anadolu’daki kamuoyunun antlaşmadan nasıl etkilendiği ve antlaşmanın basın organlarına nasıl yansıdığı konusuyla ilgili çalışmalar daha sınırlı olmak birlikte giderek artan bir öneme sahiptir. Dolayısıyla artan bu öneme binaen, Lozan Barış Antlaşması’nın Trabzon basını tarafından nasıl karşılandığı ve sütunlara nasıl yansıdığının bir değerlendirmesi yapılmaya, Trabzon şehrinin önde gelen iki basın mensubu ve gazetesinin Lozan’a yaklaşımı ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Diğer taraftan genel okuma ve değerlendirmelere bir katkı sunulması da hedeflenmiştir.
The Ottoman State accepted the defeat by the Mondros Treaty, signed at the end of the First World War (1914-1918). However, the patriots who are opposed to the current situation, under Mustafa Kemal Pasha, began the War of Liberation and showed the success of signing the document that ended the war on behalf of Turkey, the Lozan Peace Treaty. The Lozan Peace Treaty is a document that proclaims the independence of the Turkish nation that successfully came out of the National Struggle to the whole world and ensures the acceptance of this situation. The Lozan Peace Treaty, which is also important in terms of opening the way to the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, has been important in the country and abroad. The period in which the second stage of the treaty passed, in particular, led to very difficult negotiations, discussions through the press throughout the country and after the treaty evaluations were made. There is also a lot of investigations and investigations on the Lozan Peace Treaty that ends the national struggle on behalf of Turkey. But the studies on how the public in Anadolu is influenced by the treaty and how the treaty reflects on the press bodies are increasingly important. Thus, building on this increasing importance, an assessment of how the Lozan Peace Agreement was welcomed by the Trabzon press and how it reflected in the columns, the two leading press members of the city of Trabzon and the newspaper’s approach to Lozan was tried to be revealed. It is also intended to contribute to the general reading and evaluation.
