Although our country has many ornamental manuscripts, there are not many studies on them. Even though the origin of ornamentation art, one of the most important Turkish and Islamic arts, has its origins in Uighurs, the ornamentations and patterns on manuscripts couldn’t be chronologically specified entirely. In parallel with the progress, evolution and change in ornamentation art within this period, problems have occured while identifying their artistic qualities. There are hundreds of manuscripts at the libraries in Turkey, but many haven’t been researched except some major works cited in primary sources. In this study, information about ornamentation is given before reviewing Mesnevi. After that the ornamentation, design and composition method of Mesnevi with the inventory number A263/I of collection A at the library of Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History-Geography reviewed in general terms as it is considered to worth reviewing primarily by taking into consideration the deficiency of ornamentation reviews in Turkish ornamentation art.
