Abstract:

The CO2 emissions revealed as a result of the consumption of primary energy sources have a high level of greenhouse gas emissions. Because the greenhouse gas compounds have the ability to keep the heat in the atmosphere, the greenhouse gas emissions that are revealed increase the temperature in the atmosphere and cause global warming. The CO2 emissions are reduced by international carbon taxes. In this study, 21 member countries of the European Union and Turkey in particular; GDP per person, population, primary energy consumption, R&D energy spending according to socio-economic goals, the relationship between environmental taxes and CO2 emissions is analyzed by dynamic panel data forecast methods for the 2005-2014 period. According to the results of the analysis selected in 21 EU countries and in Turkey, environmental taxes and socio-economic targets R&D energy spending negative CO2 emissions, GDP per person and primary energy consumption positively affect CO2 emissions. There is no significant difference between CO2 emissions and population.
