Özet:

It is assumed that the 1st industrial revolution began with the invention of the steam engine in the second half of the 18th century. The second industrial revolution is associated with the electricity and mass production system and developments in information technologies are also called as the 3rd industrial revolution. Today, the 4th industrial revolution has begun to be discussed at this stage where information and communication technologies have been adapted. Newly developed technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, nanotechnology and the Internet of Things - IoT  in Industry 4.0 have started to take place in international literature as the most interesting topics of this revolution. However, studies on industry 4.0 technologies and their effects on social, human and economic fields should be given more importance in the national literature. The aim of this study is to examine the historical development process and characteristics of industry 4.0, the concept of big data which has a triggering effect on the development of this process and its effects on businesses and contribute to the literature. For this purpose, the literature on industry 4.0 has been searched and its effects have been evaluated in terms of the findings and information obtained about big data. In addition, when the existing studies are examined, it is concluded that it is very important to follow the changes brought by big data technology and to realize the inevitable digital transformations strategically in order that companies can compete with their competitors and survive by responding to the demands and expectations of their customers.
